Period Savvy Educational Campaign
Courage and growth in a changing world. My senior project was an awareness campaign focused on earlier menstrual cycle education. Children are statistically having their period at a younger age, such as 8, but puberty education is not taught until ages 11 and 12. A lack of knowledge surrounding puberty education can create uncertainty and fear for the child, as well as adding to the taboo of menstruation. By educating our youth at an earlier age, we can combat the stigma, and create environments for children to feel comfortable and empowered about their bodies and its functions.
Period Savvy aims to start the conversation of periods through transparency, playful graphics, and create a welcoming and safe space for children to learn and grow. I wanted to normalize the topic of periods and help children realize that this is something half the population experiences.
